Those that struggle with hair in unwanted places know that removing them and ending up with ingrown hair a.k.a razor bumps is disturbing and can even be frustrating.
In this post i’ll be doing a review of a product I found that works really well in preventing and treating ingrown hair and also sharing a few tips for preventing and treating ingrown hair.
Ingrown hair is also known as razor bumps. It is a common skin condition and it occurs when shaved hair gets trapped in a hair follicle or grows back into the skin. The ingrown hair irritates the skin and it ends up looking like rounds bumps or acne and sometimes you can even see the hair trapped in it. Sometimes this can be painful. It can be pus-filled and appear like a boil and the area affected can become hyper-pigmented (darker than the skin around it)
You can get ingrown hair after any hair removal method, not just after shaving with a razor.
Here are a few tips to prevent and treat them
Pay attention to your skin
By paying attention to my skin i realized shaving with a razor is not my thing. So I stick to sugar waxing and that gives me better results. I also realized my skin doesn’t like too many products and is sensitive. Observe and find out what works and what doesn’t.
Proper shaving technique
If you are going to be using a razor don’t put too much pressure when shaving and don’t shave too close to your skin. Use a disposable razor (single-use razor)
Exfoliate! Get a good exfoliating skin wash/ exfoliating cream/ cleanser. This is so important to get rid of the layer of dead skin so the ingrown hair can come out without anything obstructing its way. Be careful not to overdo the exfoliation.
Do not pull out the hair
I have seen many articles saying hair should be pulled out, in my experience I have realized it’s better to leave it as pulling it out can make it get worse.
Use a good preventive or treatment product
You can start using it after shaving for prevention and you can also use it as a treatment when ingrown hair appears.
I have tried many products (trust me, I have!) and X-Epil SOS Ingrown Hair Treatment Liquid is the best so far. It works like magic. It reduces the irritation and also makes the bumps disappear within just few days.
I usually start using it 3 times a day immediately after waxing. First I cleanse my skin with a mild cleanser. I put 2 puffs onto my hand and rub it into the affected area. You can also use cotton pads, spray it unto the pad and apply it to the affected area. I repeat this for a few days till I’m sure no ingrown hair is going to develop.
If you are also trying to treat ingrown hair that has already appeared, you should follow the above steps as well.
If you live in Hungary, you can get it at any Rossmann store. Here is a link to it in their online store https://shop.rossmann.hu/x-epil-sos-szorbenovest-megelozo-folyadek-75-ml
